storing a wedding cake

I had made a traditional 3 x tier celebration fruit wedding cake for my daughters wedding, it has had the marzipan and fondant icing applied.

The wedding was called off!! and I would like to know if I can store the cake for a while with the icing etc on it, or should I strip icing and marzipan off.

While I think it would be fine to leave the marzipan and icing on; I would say take it off for long term storage… you can still wrap the cakes in brandy soaked cheesecloth and feed them every so often and maybe use one for a Christmas cake…
