Pound Cake

Whenever I baked a pound cake it comes out looking oily.  why is this?

No, I am not using one of rose’s recipes.

The flour that used is the all purpose flour.

In that case, it’s very hard to tell what the problem is… could just be the recipe.  Why don’t you try one of Rose’s pound cake recipes?  I’m sure you’ll be more pleased with the results.

You didn’t specify bleached or unbleached all-purpose.  If the flour is unbleached, that might be the source of your problem.

I use unbleached all purpose flour with The Cake Bible pound cake recipe and have always loved the result. There is just not enough information to diagnose the problem. I think the best solution is to try Rose’s recipe.
