I normally do not do buttercream finish cake, I am always too scared that the heat from my palm will melt the buttercream during decorating, but decorating the rose cake was really fast, now I love making it!
Gorgeous work, the roses are perfect and I agree with Anne, the cupcakes are super cute! Did you pipe the roses directly into the cake sides? Or did you make them on a nail and then transfer?
Thanks Anne! to go with the sheep theme, the cupcakes are red velvet
Thanks Julie, yes, the roses were piped directly to the cake with 1M wilton piping tip.
That’s why I love doing it so much, it was very fast to decorate the whole cake.
The buttercream was Rose’s mouselline buttercream, the cake was 5 layers of buttermilk cake with 5 shades of pink.
Agree with Julie—I meant to also say how beautiful the roses were, but I was obscessing on the sheep.
The cake sounds delicious!!!
I can tell you, nothing would make me happier than a slice of that buttermilk cake festooned with Rose’s mousseline!! How did you flavor the mousseline? Plain (delicious) vanilla or something else?
The buttercream was vanilla, but my favorite is with homemade strawberry jam!
Ever since I made this mousseline bc, my kids always eat buttercream with cake… because more buttercream than the cake
Hi Ineke,
The roses are beautifully done. You must have a very steady hand.
Tell us more about the sheep! I love them. How did you ice the faces and the bodies?
Hi Darm456, thanks. The sheep cupcakes were very simple. I made the faces in advanced.
The icing was applied using spatula, a slight hump for the body, place the head, cover the body with mini marshmallow. Done!
