Here are a few Fall projects from the Pie/Pastry Bible.

First is the Concord Grape Pie, a favorite of mine.  It was raved over by guests, we all sat around and reminisced about our grandmother who used to make grape pies for us when we were kids.  I blind baked and moisture-proofed the crust, then baked the filling in the pie.  The grape leaves were baked separately and placed on top before serving.

The Apple Crumb pie is delicious as well, it is an apple crisp in a pie crust.  Perfect for a deeper dish pie plate.

Last is a Halloween House decorated by my daughter smile.  The panels are chocolate pate sucree (sugar cookie) held together with microwave caramel.  She is an advocate of the “More is More” philosophy of decorating.

Thanks very much, Matthew!  They get a little better looking each time I make this pie, as I always feed the need to tweak (re-size or re-proportion) my cardboard template.

Beautiful—I agree—they are all so tempting!

Your daughter did such a cute job on the house!

I, too, love those beautiful grape leaves!

VERY good job on the grape leaves. I don’t think I’ve ever had grape pie and I am wondering what it tastes like. I guess I should make one and find out. smile

And, I think your daughter did a great job on the Halloween house-I bet she had fun.

The deep dish pie looks very appetizing-I just bought a deep-dish ceramic pie pan from Pier One and can’t wait to try it.

I’m in New England, rather than Canada, these were for family visiting during foliage season.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our Canadian friends!
