Here are a few Fall projects from the Pie/Pastry Bible.
First is the Concord Grape Pie, a favorite of mine. It was raved over by guests, we all sat around and reminisced about our grandmother who used to make grape pies for us when we were kids. I blind baked and moisture-proofed the crust, then baked the filling in the pie. The grape leaves were baked separately and placed on top before serving.
The Apple Crumb pie is delicious as well, it is an apple crisp in a pie crust. Perfect for a deeper dish pie plate.
Last is a Halloween House decorated by my daughter
. The panels are chocolate pate sucree (sugar cookie) held together with microwave caramel. She is an advocate of the “More is More” philosophy of decorating.
