I’ve finally gotten some pictures of my cakes.  I’ve got Birthday cakes for my Brother in law (also Bill), my nephews and my mom.  Hope you enjoy!  The “carrots” on the carrot cake didn’t work out too well…used the cream cheese icing with some food color…the room was hot…but, did the best I could.  posting mom’s cakes here…Rose’s Chocolate Fudge cake with a chocolate buttercream frosting that I’ve been using since BCB (Before I had the Cake Bible),  Also coconut cake, and Rose’s Genoise classique with lemon curd filling and lemon mousseline buttercream.  Did these for Mom’s 70th Birthday party.

Bill the cakes look amazing and we all know it tasted even better! Your piping skills are really good and you seem to be very skilled at smoothing the tops impeccably. By the way I made a chocolate cake for my brother’s b’day yesterday and used your chocolate buttercream recipe that you posted on the blog. Just wanted to try something new…... It turned out great. Thanks!

Nushera:
The Carrot cake is frosted and filled with Rose’s White Chocolate Cream cheese frosting.  (Recipe in the cake bible).  The Cake itself was from Gourmet Magazine.  Funny that a 5 year olds favorite cake is carrot cake…I think that he finds it amusing that there a veggies in dessert.

Rozanne.  I forgot that I posted the chocolate butter cream recipe.  Gald you enjoyed.  I smooth the tops of the cakes with a large spatula.  I heat it in a glass of hot water, wipe it dry, place it on top of the cake which is on a turntable, and turn the cake.  Then I wipe the blade, re-heat, and do a little touch up.

Bill,

So happy you decided to share!  It’s wonderful to see your cakes, they’re lovely.  The kids must have been so happy with their cakes, the chocolate butter cake is one of my daughter’s favorites.  And your mother’s birthday cakes look perfect and delicious.  I like the selection of three flavors, were they your mum’s favorites, or were the flavors meant to appeal to a wide range of guests?

Your piping is fabulous!  Very inspiring.

Thanks for sharing,
Julie

Bill, you top me off, I don’t think I have pictured anything more than 2 cakes at once, as you did 3 on your first picture!  Re: Creativity . . . it comes when you allow improvisation.

If things run well on my cousin’s 7-cake wedding, there you have it, I will top you off with 7-cakes at once!
