I just wanted to share my latest creation I made for McDonald’s Corporation.  2008 is Big Mac’s 40th Birthday and I was contracted to make a 3’ diameter fully scaled Big Mac for a party McDonald’s was having in Malibu, California.  After 80+ hours and no time to spare the cake was delivered last Sunday and it was a big hit!
Hope you enjoy the picture,
Lori V.

Great looking cake.  I’d eat more hamburgers if they were made of cake.  It’s probably a good thing they aren’t.

Lori - the cake is wonderful…. would love to hear the vital statistics… e.g. type of cake, filling, number of eggs etc!
It looks like a huge amount of planning went into it!

The top bun was the only edible cake.  The rest of the burger was stryrofoam covered in fondant and gumpaste.  The cake was a marble cake with chocoate ganache.  I baked the top bun using sheet pans and pieced it together and then sculpted the shape of the bun.  I don’t really remember the number of eggs we used, but that week we purchased over 200 eggs to use on the burger, 2 wedding cakes, a grooms cake and a bat mitzvah cake.  Needless to say I still havent fully relaxed.
There was a lot of planning and prep work to sculpt and decorate the rest of the cake.  The bun was the easy part.
It was definetly worth the stress smile
Happy Baking,
Lori V.

Lori,  I saw a picture of this in the Sunday Observer in the UK.  I felt quite proud of you - you are famous!  Annie
