Lovely, Lovely Cake!  It turned out great!  The roses are so delicate and I love the way you’ve formed them!

Like everyone else, I couldn’t tell the top layer wasn’t level.  I, too, avoid writing on cakes like the plague.  I’ve resorted to painstakingly cutting out stencils to “dust” writing on the cake.  I will often make up elaborate schemes to write on the cake so it turns out….my most recent escapade was making a candied lake (I used Bo Friberg’s recipe for candy panels) and then put a printout of Happy Birthday underneath it.  Because the candy is transparent, I could pipe directly onto the “lake” and then set it (with the writing) on the cake.  A lot of work, but much nicer than any freehand writing I can do!!

I’d say you should do more last minute requests if this is the result!:)

Now thank you Sherrie… that approach to writing is interesting.  I will add coming up with creative ways to write on cake to my bucket list.

So here is feedback on this cake

”  The cake was delicious and my Mom was very happy.  She also liked the colors!”

The colors - pink and green - are the sorority AKA - Alpha Kappa Alpha.
