I’ve been craving chocolate cake for a week. I don’t bake very often now so every now and then I crave cake and it’s always chocolate cake hehe.  I had to resort to buying a brownie from the cafetaria at some point so when the weekend arrived I thought I should just bake! So I made 1/2 recipe of Genoise Au Chocolat from TCB (baked in 7 inch round pan), frosted with leftover Midnight Ganache from RHC that I have in the freezer. I also topped it with grand marnier soaked cherries. The cherries was only soak for a few hours, so not enough time but it tasted good anyway.

Looks good, Jenn?  So you may one layer of chocolate cake?  grand marnier soaked cherries - sounds interesting.

Thanks CRenee. Yes just one layer of cake. The recipe for Genoise Au Chocolat is just one layer so I just split the ingredients in half. I am experimenting with grand marnier soaked cherries lol. Also I don’t have cognac or brandy on hand.

I have still yet to make a genoise.

Sounds tasty and it looks like you created a uniform and light texture with the genoise- nice job!  Love the combo of gr marnier and chocolate, now I have a cake craving, too

Was the brownie from the cafeteria made by Starbucks ? Just kidding:-)  your genoise look very nice and fabulous. I’m sure they taste great.

Thanks Julie! I was really happy with how the genoise turned out. Was a bit unsure there as this is 1/2 recipe and I’ve been out of practice .

That looks pretty tasty there, Jenn. I especially like the touch with the added cherries soaked in the Grand Marnier.

Nicely done! Good idea to use leftovers and i don’t doubt it tastes good.
