Want to make this cheesecake recipe http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2869/new-york-cheesecake?pager.offset=20 The r.ecipe calls for 3 tbsp of plain flour. Could I use potato flour instead as it is the only thing I have or will it taste funny? I have found other recipes which use cornflour, isn’t that similar to potato flour, but I don’t have any corn flour

You could; try using 2 tablespoons rather than 3.  The flour is a thickener in this recipe; I’d mix it with the sugar first to make sure it doesn’t clump.  Our cheesecake recipe is quite similiar; we use cornstarch rather than flour for the thinner batters (our lemon one especially) so they firm up for easy slicing.  If you find yours is hard to cut, use the dental floss trick from TCB….
