Interesting!  What recipe/process did you use?

Hi Julie,

I used 1/2 gallon of milk (regular), not low fat or non fat.. 1 1/4 tsp. of Citric acid; 1/4 tablet of Rennett, 1 tsp. salt…I combined milk and citric acid and heated it up to 90 degrees.  let it sit for 15 mins; added the Rennett disolved in 1/4 c water. stir it gently the nheat it up to 105 degrees.  Drained it well.  Microwaved for 1 min, drain again, microwave another 1 min until temp is 135 degrees.  drained again..  folded it and stretched it until like play dough.  shaped it then let it cool in water bath.  that’s it.

I had no idea that you could do this. Is it better than what you can buy?

Hi Charles, yes mozzarella is very easy to make..it is ready in an hour. It taste really good and fresh. But this one was not salty enough for me,, so next time I will add more salt..next time I will be more adventurous by adding fresh herbs..texture is exactly like the commercial one.

Well my cakes are a lot more prettier than this cheese smile so my name will stay the same.

I’ve wanted to try homemade mozzarella for a long time but haven’t yet.  Over all, would you say the costs of ingredients were equal to what store bought mozzarella would cost?

Thanks
