I just finished weeping tears of joy everyone.  After what seems like hundreds of failures I just made, rolled and shaped my first successful flaky cream cheese pie dough!  It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.  Rolled like a dream, didn’t stick to my pastry cloth and tastes fabulous.  I just wanted to share this with all you bakers out there.  Thank you smile

How exciting! It’s a wonderful feeling to conquer such a difficult task.  Congratulations Matty!

Pie dough can be a bakers nemesis. Congratulations! You did it.

Congratulations!

The wonderful thing about pie dough is that once you “get the feel” for it, it’s not hard to make! Kind of like learning to ride a bicycle.

You lucky thing!  Or it probably wasn’t luck but all the practice anyway.  Congratulations!  I have yet to get there… but will soon.

I have to agree with Barbara, once you get the hang of it, it will be so easy after that. Congratulations!

Matty, I’m so happy for you!  Baking skills can give so much joy- to yourself, to others.

My father was visiting last month and learning to make pie crust was his only request.  We made crusts side-by-side, and they both turned out fabulous.  While working we talked often of the pies his mother used to make, and felt a deep connection through four generations (his mother, him, me and my daughter, who happily made cookies from the scraps).  I was so happy to be able to share that with him, and I have Rose to thank!

What kid of pie did you make?

(sniff-sniff)... how touching!  What a wonderful new memory you’ll have of your father!
