Rose, I remember when I first read The ‘Bread Bible’ and you wrote about naming your sourdough starter “Billo”, or something like that. I remember thinking, ‘How ridiculous is that???’ Wellllll, I accidentally froze my starter a while back and I was really upset because it is over a year old and it had developed some really good character. I was able to nourish it back to life and its name is ‘Lazarus’, LOL.

I don’t get too attached to these kinds of things but I would have thought ‘Phoenix’ a good fit.smile

Too funny!  I called mine “Cal” for a while, after Calvel (I used his method to create it), but now the family refers to it as “the pet” because I feed it and fuss with it just like a real pet.  smile

smile  I opted for “Bubbles” but “deflated” may have been a better choice as my starter has been stalled in the fridge for quite some time.

Yes, it does require a bit of fussing over. I don’t bake with my starter that often but it gets fed weekly.
