We recently brought my daughter a homemade birthday cake but when we cut into it it didn’t look right. You can clearly see the cake had 2 ddifferent colours and textures. The lighter part of the cake was normal cake texture but heavy and didn’t taste nice. The darker part is the part that was very rubbery and enedable. We were assured the cake was cooked for long enough so what could have caused this?

Thankyou.

What recipe did you use? Could be a poor recipe, or using unbleached flour in a recipe that needs bleached flour, or if it is a sponge cake, overfolding or underbeating the eggs.

We didn’t make the cake, it was professionally made. It wad a birthday cake. At first we thought it wad under cooked but now wr think she made a mostake with the batter. Apparently it was a tried and tested cake batte and cooked long enough.

Tried and tested by who ? So you’ve eaten this very same type of cake and it was good before you ordered it ? Then maybe go back to this “professional” baker and tell that baker how the cake tasted and that you are a dissatisfied customer, maybe then u will know what went wrong. Hope u will find your answers.
