Has anybody else foolishly, accidentally, stupidly ever put wax paper in the oven instead of parchment???? I knew something was wrong when I saw smoke coming out of the oven…......I managed to intercept before anything actually caught fire, thank goodness…..the moral of this story?  Don’t let yourself get distracted when operating heavy machinery!!!

I’ve never quite done it, but I’ve certainly caught myself reaching for the wrong roll, or even pulling out the waxed paper before I stopped myself. And that’s with keeping them on opposite sides of the cupboard shelf just to avoid any possible mixup!

Oh, and I once got the plastic wrap(!) actually on the pan and about to slide into the oven before I stopped myself. I suddenly thought to myself ‘I can see though the parchment paper.’

Hoo boy!

Well, that’s good that you caught it in time!! Thankfully, I can laugh about my incident now, especially since I didn’t send the house up in flames!!!

Cynna, I am a firm believer in the concept that any disaster where nobody gets badly hurt is one to laugh about and chalk up to experience.

Also, I consider the plastic wrap incident to be a warning never to bake before caffeination. It’s just plain dangerous.
