I can put the plastic ones in the dishwasher, but the wooden ones are more attractive. Functionally, they’re the same.

Just saw some that are some sort of composite made of wood fibers, so they have the nice color of wood, but they can go in the dishwasher.  To the touch they feel harder than wood. I’m thinking of getting one to try it out, but I need to look into it a bit more and make sure they are fine for knives.
