Jen… there’s actually a story behind the lake of caramel - it was the last really nice looking slice and I wanted to get a photo with our new camera, but the slice broke in half as I was plating it (if you look carefully, you can see the dark break on the side of the slice), so I tried to camouflage it by placing a pecan across the break and dousing it with caramel… that worked for just a few minutes until the caramel settled enough so that it didn’t camouflage the break anymore so I added a bit more caramel, then when I opened the camera case the camera was missing… after I tracked down the camera I needed to add yet more caramel because it was taking so long to figure out which setting on the unfamiliar camera took the best photo… I added all those pecans to lessen the appearance of the lake of caramel… my family thought I was “nuts”... anyway, Hubby didn’t complain later when I let him eat my little project
