I’m a novice with the decorating tip and know the very basic of stuff. I want to make a rose bouquet of cupcakes like this.
Does anyone know what tip could be used? Looks like a star tip but how can the swirls be made wider and tighter? I plan to try this out this weekend starting with a star tip but am wondering if I am heading the right direction?
Here’s a pic from a very talented cupcake maker:

these are made with a large closed star tip (the ones with the curved in opening).  start in the center with a wide rosette, and continue out covering the center a bit so it gives the flower center shape.  anfle is 90 degree.

good luck!

you can also pipe traditional roses but is more time consuming, as it took me 1 month for the 500 plus on Rose’s Word Cake!

The tip most commonly used for this technique is a 1M.  You can find them at Wal-Mart, Michael’s, Jo-Ann’s, cake supply stores, etc.  They cost about $2.
