Wow… looks great.  I can’t get my chocolate curls to look that good.

Did you use the marble spreadsheet?  How’d it work for you?

actually, i got a new recipe from someone else on this site. It was the perfect amount, and it was soooo incredibly moist, the yellow was soo good, and the chocolate marbling tasted like melted choc chips.

i DEFINATELY will keep this recipe forever.

Oh, i did try the frosting that you sent me dan. Its very very good, very chocolatey, very thick. Its grainy though, like a typical buttercream.
When you end up making that fluffy choc cake though let me know so i can try that.

I’d be interested in having a look at that recipe.

Thanks for the feedback. Do you think you could pipe with it?

Rose’s buttercreams are never “grainy”.  Are you referring to powdered sugar based buttercreams?

This was a chocolate buttercream from Cook’s Illustrated. It’s made with confectioner’s sugar and uses corn syrup to dissolve some of the sugar for a less grainy finish.

yeah it wasn’t roses recipe. I don’t know if the person who gave me the recipe wants me to tell anyone what it is, or who it is, so if she gives me the ok, ill let you know.

The frosting….I found it to be more like a typical buttercream, it was VERY heavy, VERY chocolatey. I bet you can pipe with it, for like stiff decorations, as it seemed very thick. Definately not smooth like mousseline or anything.  I got 1000 thumbs up all in all for the cake and the frosting. I am making this cake again for the ‘big’ party for my cousin (the one with elmo on it)....it is VERY good.
