Thanks so much! I have to start charging for cakes at some point, but still have soo much to learn. My hand shakes when I pipe, so you can see that I avoid it. I looked at all the vintage fairy illustrations, and got inspired by the fact that fairies wore flower petals as dresses. Maybe having a 4 year old daughter helps! My sister in law’s shower was the occation. And, believe it or not, April 18th is my Sister’s baby shower, only it will be for a boy. So, I’m sketching now. I’ll send pics. It’s so great to share them here since I can only imaging how all of you know the feeling. I was up all night with this one…I baked the cakes and put them in the freezer tightly wrapped on Friday am. I then spent the later part of the day feeling anxious that I couldnt refridgerate the fondant covered cakes, for risk of condensation, so I decorated each teir separately, and did not stack them until I arrived to the location. I didnt like this though, because I generally love decorating the cake when it’s already assmebled in teirs. It’s easier to add to the whole composition when it’s all together. The flovor of the cake turned out amazing though, because…I found that the bottom teir came up short to the 4 inch pan. I realized it wouldnt be as tall as the others. So, I gave a generous layer of cream cheese frosting, and about 1/2 inch of sweetened coconut flakes in the middle of this bottom tier. So, this improvision actually turned out to be a happy mistake…it kept the cake moist and was a happy surprise.
