As the temperature drops, and the first hard frost threatens, I thought I'd better harvest my few essential herbs and freeze them for winter weekend meals. The coming of winter is always a sad time for me but then there are other comforts: sleeping in an unheated room under a fluffy down quilt, eating hearty stews and drinking assertive red wines, and getting to wear all those sweaters, hats, and scarves Ii've been knitting.
